DSG032 Dimitrios Xystros – Memories

My name is Dimitrios Xystros, I am a DJ and music producer of progressive house and melodic techno. I was born in Thessaloniki and spent my childhood and teenage years in a mountain village in Arnaia Halkidiki. My love for music came from a very young age, when in the early 80s I bought my first tapes with bands like DURAN DURAN, WHAM, MODERN TALKING etc. So growing up it was certain that this hobby would slowly become my profession and already at the age of 13 and when we now had our first hi-fi stereo set at home which contained an amplifier, record player, cassette player and two speakers. It was then that my older brother and I started buying our first commercial House and Acid house vinyls, mainly tracks that would help us learn how to mix with the addition of a small two channel analog mixer that we bought later. My first experience with djing will be unforgettable, because I was trying to do beatmatching from a simple turntable without a tachometer to the cassette player by turning up the turntable with my hand, so that I could combine the two tracks. Sometimes I succeeded, sometimes not. But when I started playing with professional turntables in clubs, beatmatching was now a piece of cake. After several years of djing, the need arose for me to want to make my own music with the help of a computer application and in this way enter the world of music technology while simultaneously learning music theory and classical piano in a music school. The first pieces I created I started sharing on social media to see people’s reactions. The first comments were very encouraging and so in 2020 came my first release called Generation Change.
